“you may like them. You will see. You may like them in a tree!”
The article below about a college football coach who uses a child Nursery rhyme to illustrate persistence and discipline got me thinking about how often we forget the lessons we teach our children.
One of my favorite lessons for what we do as salespeople every day is in the book “Green Eggs and Ham.”
In this Dr. Suess classic, Sam-I-am hears a form of “no” over 70 times in the book. All he is asking is if the man would try his product…just try it!
So often you sit in front of prospects and all you want them to do is give you a shot… “Let’s take the first step together, try us out and we are confident you’ll love what we can do for you” – you say.
Or in other words…“Will you try my Green Eggs and Ham?”
Most times we give up after the first ask or first appointment and they cancel the next.
Why not ask again?
Sam-I-am teaches us to not stop trying, eventually they’ll bite. When they finally bite, they’ll be a raving fan.
